Primary Election Calendar

July 21

Look for your Primary Election ballot packet in the mail. Contact the County Elections Division if you don’t receive your ballot by July 27.

July 27

Voter Service Centers open through Election Day for voter registration and accessible in-person voting.

August 3

Recommended deadline to return completed ballots by mail. Be mindful of USPS delivery times to ensure it is received by the deadline. After this date, you should drop your completed ballots in a designated Ballot Drop Box.

August 8

Primary Election ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m.

How to Vote

  1. Register to vote. Register online or learn about other registration options. Make sure your Voter Registration is up-to-date. You can check your information online or contact your County Clerk’s office to confirm your registration.
  2. Receive your ballot by mail. Once registered, you should receive your Primary Election mail ballot by July 21.
  3. Cast your vote in comfort. Follow the instructions on your ballot. Review both sides and mark it with blue or black ink. Put your completed ballot in the secrecy sleeve provided and place both in the postage paid return envelope. Read and sign the back of the return envelope. Contact the County Elections Division if you make an error.
  4. Return your ballot. Mail your completed ballot using the postage paid return envelope, hand deliver it to the Elections Division or drop it in a Ballot Drop Box. Your ballot must be received (not postmarked) by Saturday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. to be counted. To ensure that your completed ballot is received before the deadline, return it immediately after completing the voting process. Do not wait until the day before or the day of the election to return your completed ballot. This will prolong ballot processing and will delay the release of final election results.
  5. Track your ballot. Check the status of your ballot at https://hawaii.ballottrax.net/voter/.
